The Ascend Music and Media Academy at After Hours Recording Studio is designed to introduce and immerse youth in a world of music and the professions that make the music industry: music recording/engineering, music composition/songwriting, digital photography and disc jockeying (DJing). The professional staff at the Ascend Academy will lead hands-on instruction, theory, and workshops with students who will enjoy a fun and enriching camp experience. Students can concentrate on two areas or experience the total digital arts program by attending workshops and courses in various arts.

Music Recording/Engineering – Students learn recording, mixing and reproduction of sound and how to operate studio engineering equipment, how to work with recording artists and musical tracks and the appropriate industry-ready levels and sounds for professional distribution. This program will include hands-on instruction with engineers and producers from Interscope Records, Mideast Records and credited producers/engineers.

Music Composition/Songwriting – Students learn songwriting theory, creative writing techniques and get experience working with published singers/songwriters and producers who will help students develop songs with industry tracks and professional critiquing.

Digital Photography – While this course focuses on modern photography techniques and digital camera equipment, students will also learn photography theory and the evolution of the profession. Participants will enjoy hands-on challenges and workshops led by published fashion and entertainment photographers.
