Show Time at the Island Café

829 Upshur Street. N.W. Washington D.C. Week of October 15th Once again I find myself back at one of Washington D.C’s popular underground melting pots for local talent, where I often run into artist, producers, music video makers, business CEO’s and more. Here I am again, back at it, to bring you exclusive interviews from some of your favorite Independent Music creators and performers; I am Insight Seeker of W.O.W.Radio and tonight I’m at the Island Café in Washington D.C. Hey what can I say, “I get around”, probably not quite how you’d normally interpret that saying regularly however, for a fella in my profession, the statement still holds true. I, like my counterparts at wowuradio, do in fact meet dozens of people every day while handling the business of Local Media in the subculture of indie music. With that in mind, as I head out to the [Island] Café I think, why should tonight be any different? So after I arrive, sure enough, it only takes a mere 30 minutes before I score a chance to catch my first interview for the night, let us get a quick glance at who they are and what they’re all about….

Insight: Whatsup fellas, its Insight Seeker, now that y’all know me. Tell us who you are and what you guys are all about.

GROUP RESPONSE: P.B. Entertainment’s CEO- Tony Stark, DC Solo (artist), Enemy Dougish (artist) and Cain Marko (President of P.B. Ent).

Insight: Ok so we have DC Solo, Dougish, the Ironman and the human Juggernaut. That works, so real quick, let the people know how long P.B. Entertainment has been out workin’ DC’s music scene.

DC Solo: Officially the label has been around for a little over 2 years but me, all my life!!!

Insight: Aight, so we’ve got artists, CEO’s, managers and producers here. Now let me ask you guys being as though you have a few hats [working positions] you’re all wearing, what exactly is the inspiration behind what you all do? Meaning who are some people in the industry you all pattern yourselves after?

Enemy Dougish: Honestly, and I never thought I’d hear myself say this shit but, the dude Wale. A lot of people don’t like him but he’s grindin’, a lot of people really want to be where he is right now so ,yeh, he’s one of the people I gotta say I pattern myself after partially.

DC Solo: Me? I pull my inspiration from everywhere. Rap, Rock, Blues, Folk music, Jazz, even from this n!gg@ right here (pointing to Enemy Dougish) is my inspiration. If it sounds good them I’m crankin it.

Insight: That’s whassup, and now who are some of the artist you’ve all worked with since recording began for you all?

Enemy Dougish: A lot of people you may not even know are right here in DC, 20-Bello, Northeast Fatz, Joe, Bzell, DC Solo, Fluke, Bishop Twan and a big shout out to HOODROACH.

Insight: When you’re doing your music, what kind of message is it that you’re really trying to get out to the listeners? What are you really saying to them as they pop in a P.B album?

DC Solo: Well really, I’m tryin’ to let people know that it’s not all about money. It’s about good music, living live, whatever the fuck you feel like doing.

Insight: As people who’ve been out there and seen what you’ve seen, do yall have and inspirational quotes or a brief message to give to the people still out there trying to be noticed and make it into these clubs? Is there anything for the kid who just discovered a talent in music or anywhere?

Tonk Stark: Keep grinding. It’s not going to just come to you. You have to stay motivated.

DC Solo: Yup, keep on movin’ do not stay still for nothing or else you’ve never get where you’re trying to go.

Enemy Dougish: Stay original; too many people follow the band wagon, be you….be Dougish if ya want to though.

Insight: Ha!! Everybody should be like somebody, so I guess, why not make it somebody worth being like, right? So fellas, where can your fans find you? How can they get on contact with you and/or catch you when you perform?

GROUP RESPONSE: (Enemy Dougish) @YoungDougish, Facebook: Enemy Dougish (DC Solo) Ya can catch me on reverbnation Solo13, I’m on Facebook but mostly on twitter @Flameking13 (Tonk Stark) I’m on twitter @TonyStark2010

Insight: Aight, well I won’t hold yall up too much longer, yall just go in there tonight and rip the show like last week. Yes, I say your performance last week here and Yeh yall put on a great show so I expect nothing less tonight. Good luck on stage fellas!!

Now as these members of P.B. Entertainment head back to the open room to get ready to perform, I head through the crowd to look for some more action. My goal tonight is to get into the heads of some people who work really hard on the indie music scene but rarely get recognized for their efforts. That’s what we do at W.O.W. Radio, it’s what our mission as a company and radio station has dedicated ourselves to do, for you!!! So don’t forget to support W.O.W.
